Best Wishes Card

Hello on this sunny Monday!
Today I continue with the orchid theme using a Penny Black stamp. This time I embossed the front panel and raised the flower.
What do you think does it work in yellow or do you prefer the pink?

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Cozy Slippers

Hello it's another day and another project post. I've been busy knitting slippers for my clan. It's been awhile since I held a pair of needles but I think I've got the hang of things again.

I thank my mom for teaching me how to knit. When I was nine she gave me a ball of yarn and needles to celebrate St. Nicolas on Dec. 6th. :)

These are fun to make as they work up fast and are a great way to use up partial balls of yarn.
Cast on 27 stitches, knit 1st row.
2nd row -knit 8, pearl 1, knit 8, pearl 1, knit to end of row.
Repeat until piece measures 4 inches.
Decrease 1 at the beginning and end of next 2 rows.
Continue knitting until desired length.
Knit 2 together for final row then pull a 10 - 12 inch length of thread through remaining stitches as you remove them from needles.

Use thread to pull front of slipper together and stitch front up to where you decreased.
Sew up back and your done.

Thanks for your visit!

A New Crafting Adventure - Felted Merino Scarfs

A couple of years ago my pal Judy showed me her collection of felted scarfs. Each one was a pretty and unique piece of wearable art. She described the process and asked if I'd like to try making one. At the time I jumped at the idea of learning a new craft but had to put it off until last month. We worked on the first one together. The stripes made me happy and the colours looked so pretty together, it had such promise.  Until after all the work the purple turned out to be the wrong type of wool and did not felt. Lesson learned.

Scarf number 2 turned out great it's very light and soft. I really enjoy wearing it. With a width of ten inches it can be used as a light wrap too.

Scarf number 3 is identical on both sides, thicker and only six inches wide. This one with it's darker tones is for my son,

The colour combinations are endless and I'm already planning another project.
Have a creative day!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
I have been enjoying the sunny days with their long shadows even if the temperature has been minus double digits all week. I didn't make any resolutions this New Year but am continuing on with my walking. I've managed to walk several kilometers each day this week. The goal is to be able to walk our 10 kilometer loop by spring.

Sorry that I've been away from this blog for so long, I sure have missed it. This brings me to my second goal, to start blogging again. I changed the name from Craftygal's Creations to Craftygal's Corner to better reflect that I'll be sharing a mix of things not just crafts.

Have a good day!

Craft Supply Organization

Hello, today I'm sharing some of the behind the scenes stuff that I've been up to lately.

After a frenzy of card making, challenges and ATC trading in January that I thoroughly enjoyed I decided to clean up and store winter, supplies that is.
Spring is right around the corner and that's my focus as I change out my crafting space. For the past several weeks I've been taking Totally Tiffany's get organized challenge. She has some good ideas that I'm hoping will help me deal with having my craft supplies in two spots. I know that after three years I should have figured something out. But I'm still hauling too much stuff back and forth each weekend and always find I'm missing just the thing I need to keep going with a project. Like last week I had cards to get in the mail and I forgot my envelopes so off I go to buy more, again.

For my storage I decided to go with the 8.5 x 11 page protectors I have on hand, put into colour coordinated binders. Red binder for red and pink supplies, orange binder for orange and yellow, green binder for green and brown, blue binder for blue and purple, gray binder for gray, blacks and metallic and last but not least a white binder for clear, iridescent, creams and white. All of these are in a milk crate that makes it easy to transport.

Along with colour coordinating supplies I've been compacting the size of my stamp collection. This saves shelf space and makes it easy to transport multiple sets at once. Below you can see nine stamp sets fit into one double DVD case.
I used the stickers that came with the stamps and adhered them onto acetate panels (re-used packaging). I can now see at a glance what I have and it makes it a breeze to return stamps to their sets after use. As an added bonus I can use the images on the panels to help with placement of stamps on my projects. :)
